With Gratitude To God's Grace

2. Two Are Better Than One

Sister Zhang was gifted in preaching.  Therefore, wherever we went, she always led the Bible study and I usually prayed and gave testimonies.  Sometimes I just encouraged and supported her.  She was a little younger than I was, but she was gentle, open, and zealous to help others.  As a result, she often met temptations because people unconsciously tended to admire her as an idol.  Since I had suffered greatly before from making idols of people, I earnestly interceded for her to overcome temptations and always warned her of them.  It was by the Lord’s mercy that he changed my heart from idolatry to absolute jealousy for the Lord.  He gave me insight to discern the evil scheme the devil used to kill God’s servants.  God also taught me to destroy the plan of Ahithophel by using divine power before the throne as referred to in 2 Samuel 17.  Sister Zhang always encouraged me to pursue humility and love.  Her wholehearted devotion to the Lord and diligent love of people had always been as example to me. Indeed, as it is written in the Bible:  Two are better than one...Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”  (Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12)
