He Opens Doors of Preaching The day after I arrived at Hong Kong, the second daughter of Mrs. Chen, Wei Chen, told me: “Our family fellowship is organized by bodies in Christ who rotate from place to place. It is Mrs. Jian’s turn this week. You should come with us since your mother always attended.” The next day, right in the elevator, Wei Chen introduced me to those who came for the fellowship. “This is the daughter of Dorcas Liu who just came from Mainland China.” As I entered the home of Mrs. Jian, I saw she was very busy cooking for us so that we could dine together after the fellowship. Since it was New Year’s Eve, the atmosphere was noisy and full of the jabbering of ladies. It was not until a female missionary came in with a brother who was in charge of the gospel missions that they led us in singing hymns. Then everyone was quiet. The fellowship proceeded with some of the sisters giving their testimonies. I was moved to witness briefly about how the Lord had amazingly led me abroad. At the end, the two missionaries said: “Every word of Ms. Xu is from God.” Immediately they invited me to give a testimony at the fellowship meeting of the gospel missions the next evening. The hostess, Mrs. Jian, was also very pleased to invite me as a speaker the next time the fellowship met at her house. I promised her I would do so. The Lord opened the door of preaching for me. It was especially so at a fellowship in the home of Mrs. Liu. She made an effort to intercede for the meeting and invited a full house of people on that day. The Holy Spirit worked tremendously. I preached about Esther. After the meeting, many people came to talk with me. The wife of a pastor who lived very far away invited me to speak at the church where her husband ministered. There was an independent missionary, whose last name was Lian, who invited me to live at her house and join together to pray. I heard that she lived with a few sisters and they served the Lord together. The pastor of Mrs. Liu also invited me to speak at his church, the Shanghai Church. I told them that I would answer them after I had prayed about it. |
