With Gratitude To God's Grace

6. Transfer to a Beautiful Land Suddenly

Later, I was transferred from guarding the mountain area back to my old group to do outdoor labor. One day it was extremely hot, and all of the workers were streaming with sweat. However, we still needed to work after five o'clock in the afternoon. When evening came, every body was so thirsty that some even drank the dirty water from the ditch. I tried to control myself from drinking it, but it was almost unbearable. Just then a group leader carried some fertilizer passed by me. She secretly gave me half a cucumber which someone had given to her. To me it was a priceless treasure. In my heart I knew that it was God's tender care, and I gave thanks to God silently. I have never forgotten the kindness of that group leader. Later on I have always tried to help her financially after I was released from the farm. During the hardest moments, I could only lift up my heart to the Lord. That very night the cadre announced that I would be transferred to the barn of silkworm breeding to be a doorkeeper. The barn of silkworm breeding was located where the cadre lived. Though it was not far from where the labor members lived, it was like a different world. On this side, it was noisy and crowded and like an earthly hell. On the other side, it was as beautiful as a picture with tall and large mansions, trees and shades. I was transferred to live with three older female members of the farm in a house. We were divided into two shifts guarding the entrance of the barn day and night. We also did some easy chores as janitors. This made other members of the farm envious of me. Some of them even argued with the cadre that I was not old at all. I was in my forties, so how could I be transferred over there to do such easy work and be so comfortable. As a result, they were rebuked by the cadre. How could they understand there is a true and living God Who is in Heaven taking care of me who belongs to Him. It was because of the dross in me that He had to let me undergo such refinement. Now through the refinement my heart turned to him and looked upon Him. He would show grace to redeem me. God made use of the unceasing disputes among the four old members in the plant, so that the cadre transferred one of them to another place. In such a way, I was able to be alone to keep the door quietly, so that I could restore my watch prayer as before. My troubled and fainted heart started to revive.
