With Gratitude To God's Grace

7. Blessed by Relying on God

Suddenly I roused from sleep and knelt down to pray. The Lord showed me that I had lied and sinned. How could He bless me? I said to the Lord that I had no choice but to lie. In order not to get Uncle Chang into trouble, I could only say that he did not know the business of digging the gold. The Holy Spirit guided me to understand that when I encountered difficulty, I should rely on the Lord for wisdom, and should not rely on myself to deal with it. I looked up to Him, He opened my mind to know how to answer those who interrogated me. Early in the morning of the next day they fetched me for interrogation. I took the lead to say to them: I want to confess, I am a Christian, and I should not lie. I lied yesterday, because I had never encountered such an occasion. You asked me whether Uncle Chang knew I dug the gold. What really happened was as follows. He had never seen my mother's gold. It was because I had to ask a male schoolmate to help me to dig out the gold that I went to him that morning. "I asked Brother X to help me get my mother's belongings." He was reading the Bible to prepare for the morning Bible study, so he nodded and waved his hand motioning me to leave and not to disturb him. I did mention it to him, but I did not know whether he heard me clearly or not. After I confessed, the Lord was with me, and my heart was filled with peace. God also made me find favour in the sight of men. That party cadre saw I was shivering due to coldness, and he even gave me a cloak. Everyone also stopped questioning me closely just as the mouths of the lions with Daniel were shut. In the end, they even answered my request to bring a Bible in large print to my jail room and allowed me to read it day and night. They did not fetch me for interrogation any more.
