With Gratitude To God's Grace

            7. I Find Rest in Baltimore

After my visit with Mrs. Lo had ended, I headed for Baltimore.  Sister Lu picked me up at the train station, greeted me warmly and drove me to her house in the suburbs.  She settled me in her daughter’s room as an honored guest.  Her children studied in other states.  I looked at the beautiful scenery outside the room, the elegant and orderly arrangement in the room, and felt that I was in a palace.  That night sister Lu carefully  inquired about my burden for the work on the mountain, especially the demarcation of 48 locations.  I told her everything according to my personal experience.  Her husband, Professor Huang, was in the study room next to the living room, and I believe that he heard everything, too.

The next morning after sister Lu had gone to work, Professor Huang took me to see the beautiful trees and flowers in the garden.  He told me seriously,  “You can settle down here.  Move all of your belongings from New York.  From now on whenever you go out to work, you are welcome to return here.”  Immediately I asked him, “ May I invite my co-workers in America or in China to come here to stay?”  He answered, “Yes, you certainly may.”  He also showed me the basement, which was fully furnished and could accommodate lots of people.  How grateful and joyful I was!  I did not realize, however, that I was full of dross and needed to be thoroughly refined.  Even so, everything worked for my good.  Finally I had found a place of rest and ended a life of unstable wandering.
