6. A New Favor in Wilmington
I had met Mrs. Lo a few times in Shanghai when she returned from
Hong Kong. At that time her
house was forcibly occupied by her relative, but she took our advice to
calm down about the situation. She
began to read the Lord’s Word carefully, to look up to the Lord in
prayer wholeheartedly, and she did not use a worldly way by bribing or
relying on power. She had to
meet a tight schedule in returning to Hong Kong, but the Lord did wonders
for her in a short time. The
judge decided that the house should be hers and soon that wicked relative
moved out voluntarily. As a result, she was very willing to receive me in America. Coincidentally, when I arrived at her house, a few sisters were there, so we studied the Bible and prayed together. Later there were opportunities for me to testify for the Lord in some fellowship meetings in other homes. The senior apartment where Mrs. Lo lived was so beautiful and quiet, and there was a garden full of trees and flowers on top of her building. Since there was only one room other than the living room in her apartment, I slept on the sofa. Once before dawn when I was half awake, a thought came that there would be many people coming from China and that I should pray for them. The burden of helping them was put into my heart. I also recalled that when I was in China, I hoped someone would send me an invitation or provide a financial sponsorship for me. How hard it was! Most of the relatives “ran for their own fortune” once they went abroad, so they had no concern for those at home. I remembered that I had once said that if the Lord ever led me to go abroad, I would help those brothers and sisters who had a calling to serve the Lord overseas. Now it was time for me to fulfill my vow! |
