6. All
Gold and Silver Should Be Given to the Lord: Amazingly,
the Lord changed the heart of the authorities and I was released suddenly
to go to Hong Kong. When I
visited my half brother, all of his family was so surprised to see me.
My elder half brother was only one year younger than my mother and
we had never associated with each other.
But since I believed in Jesus, I had been praying for all of my
half sisters and half brothers. After I was released form the labor camp to return to
Shanghai, I made an appointment to meet them and led them to Jesus.
Soon after this, his daughter left for America, and my half
brother, his wife, and his son moved to Hong Kong. They
said: “Everyone thought that it was impossible for you to come abroad
since your mother had passed away.”
I answered: “I had God.” While
we were still talking, my younger sister called to invite the whole family
of my half brother to a restaurant. I
told her on the phone that I had arrived in Hong Kong.
She could hardly believe it and kept on asking me: “Are you truly
my sister?” I answer:
“Yes, I am. The government
issued me the permission, and here I am.
I do not have any special plan for this trip.”
She then invited me to live at her place.
I declined: “The Lord has prepared a place for me to stay.” I thought that my brother-in-law had held a grudge against me
for telling my mother that a cadre had come to investigate me and informed
me that my brother-in-law had schemed to hinder me from going abroad.
As a result, he had held a grudge against me.
Why then should I bother them?
I had only brought some ginseng and tonic that I planned to ask
someone to give to my sister before I left Hong Kong. When I visited my half brother again, he said that my younger sister asked him to give me something of my mother’s, some gold ornaments, diamond rings, etc. He asked me to write him a receipt. At this moment I felt I should imitate David to offer all of them in gratitude to my God. After I left my half brother’s house, I immediately went to the house of the rich man who received me when I had just arrived in Hong Kong. I entrusted the jewelry to his daughter-in-law. They suggested that I keep one diamond ring as a memory of my mother, however, I insisted that I would keep none of it but gave it all to the Lord. |
