10. Guard Against the Little Fox

When the grapevine blossoms, be sure to guard against its destruction by the enemy.  Man’s praise and honor unconsciously puffed me up.  Once someone took me to attend a special evening meeting at a church.  It was a full house in which floors were packed.  The speaker was preaching about how to pray.  As I listened, I despised him and thought that from what he preached he was a layman on this subject.  He even listed item after item to teach people how to pray.  My heart was full of criticism, judgement, and contempt.  In addition, I judged people by appearance.  Once I overheard an old lady, Mrs. Wu, make some worldly statement and as a result I concluded that she was not spiritual at all.  Later, I learned that she loved the Lord very much.  She was willing to give anything, even her own life, to preach the gospel for the Lord.  After the light of the Lord shone upon me to discipline me, I could only confess my sin, repent, and acknowledge how wicked and miserable I was.
