With Gratitude To God's Grace

1. Apply To Go To Hong Kong

After I returned home, I wanted to go abroad for my entrustment so much. However, it was not the right time. Though I had submitted applications to go to Hong Kong to visit my mother or to go to America to visit relatives, I met frustration and hindrance. The cadre simply told me at the end: "The higher authority does not approve of it. You must not come to apply any more!" The way he spoke was so rude that I was terrified. Later, I learned that it was because I was labeled as a "member of nekong," a person who is under control internally and is not allowed to go abroad. Therefore, I no longer made my application through men but only prayed to the Most Highest Almighty God, and I read the Lord's word day and night. The more I read, the more I had hope and the more I saw the light, so I was fully convinced that God's promises would be fulfilled when the time came.

In 1982, my mother came to Shanghai from Hong Kong. It had been more than twenty years since we had separated from each other, and it was by the grace of the Lord that we could have a reunion. During that period of time, I could see that my mother was gradually restored in spirit and health. However, about one year later she passed away in a coma due to an acute illness. She has rested ever since with God. After that, I was without family concerns in this world. While I was arranging for the funeral, one of the relatives who was in charge made me feel hurt and oppressed. This increased my mourning, so I went to the Lord and cried before Him. The Lord wanted me to bless him, and my sorrow was released. Just then the relative came to my house, and I was able to treat him cordially with gladness. When I saw him off, I saw there was a letter from the Public Security Office lying in the mailbox. It was addressed in a very polite way and asked me to go to the office and have a talk. Later, I went there, and finally they concluded that the higher authority had been concerned about me, and they approved of my going to Hong Kong. Those who come from Mainland China know very well that even if one has submitted the application, one still needs to keep on reminding the officials of it. Many people can not go abroad unless they bribe officials by giving handsome gifts or go through the "back door". How could it be that I did not submit an application in time and yet they let me go abroad? For me, it was God Who arranged this to make me know His faithfulness and almightiness; and to allow me to experience how He would bless me when I kept His word and relied on Him by loving the one who treated me unfairly.
