Wishing You all a Happy New Year 2011!
Dear Brothers & sisters, friends & families,
Greetings from Agnes! I hope that you all had a lovely & blessed Christmas wherever you were – Yes, I know that many places in Europe & USA had a white Christmas… In HK, we did have quite a cold weather too though no snow – but frost in the Hill top!
Sorry for the silent for a while, it has been a “busy” December and I have been longing to share with you my news, but it seems to me that I never have the right moment to sit down to do so…. So, I blame it the busy “hong kong life style”!!! hee hee hee!
Praise the Lord that He has always been with me and also your faithful prayers… otherwise, I don’t think I would have such a “steady” transitional
periods in Hong Kong for the past 10 months! Many aspects of my life have changed this year since I left London – leaving my job, colleagues, church life, fellowship groups, different lifestyle, way of living, privacy, friendships, but to learn to live my 24hrs in a very big and different way and how to balance my time & family….etc and many more….
Though there were many things to take on this year (big & small), God has been faithful & gracious to me all the time. For start, parents’ healths are
much better and continue to improve. I also had chance & opportunity to take parents to see the Chinese Painting in Asia Expo in HK in Nov and we went for a day trip in Macau! Indeed, it was a breakthrough for Dad as it was the first time he was ever “travel” outside Hong Kong since he left hospital in early 2010.
My “home sweet home” in London was also sorted smoothly in summer, praise God for that too! I must say, it was an emotional step to pack up all personal belongs & to leave my home where had been my home, shelter, quiet place to reflect/ meditation, to share my joy & foods &hospitality with friends with many tears & laughter for many years….. But I have learnt one thing through this “moving exercise” – I must learn to let go for all these earthly things but to fix my eyes to those which can last for eternal. Interesting enough, when I left UK, I did not feel “heart ache” anymore……
Although it was a difficult exercise to leave my place, it was also created opportunity for my relatives & friend to visit me in London before I left UK. After living there for so many years, this was the first time I ever visit London & France in a very “tourist” way – taking the map, planning each day where to go!!! Praise the Lord for such a wonderful summer – blue sky & hot weather! I’m so glad that I did that before I left London. I will certainly give me many lovely memories.
As for my spiritual life in HK– Praise God for giving me a cell group to attend at my current church in HK since Aug. J It does make a different in my spiritual life and I’ve enjoyed the fellowship with the brothers & sisters in my cell group as they are very kind, caring and nice bunch of people! We have a very wide age range (from 20s to 70s) but believe me, we never feel generation gap!!
Also, serving BSF for the young adult group and meeting with other committed leaders, it also helps me to discipline my walk with the Lord Jesus and to study His words in HK. I was so thankful to have opportunity to join the BSF Leaders Retreat in KL in Oct. It was such a wonderful experience that studying God words (Book of Revelation) with the fellow 2100 leaders in a huge ballroom. We had lots of fun & met many different leaders from different countries. Their sharings at Retreat were inspiring and encouraging. I certainly enjoyed the retreat to the full. Well, not only that, God also gave me the opportunity to meet some of my long lost friends whom I know them for 10+ years during this KL visit plus trying out their yummy local foods. It was a great catch up & reunion after many years with the friends. God’s timing was just perfect!
As for my HK Pharmacy Board Exam – Really thank the Lord that allowing me to have 2 papers passed (out of 3) in June this year. In early Dec, I had taken the re-sit for the failed one! I hope that this time round will get this last paper pass!!!! Result will be informed in Mar 2011 –yeahhh….. it is a long waiting time, I heard you say so…. The Board is certainly testing our patience! L I shall let you know the outcome when I know it. J At the meanwhile, I shall start looking for job in 2011 which would suitable to me (to balance both home side, serving Bible study class) and to gain some working experience in HK. I trust that the Lord will lead me to the right job.
Yeah… less than an hour, 2011 will come and say “hello”! Year 2010 indeed has been a very special year to me. When I organised my album 2010 (see the link) to reflect some highlights of this year, I have realised that so many things had happened for last 12 months, many things have changed, I also have achieved quite a bit with the Lord’s and your help and also have learnt something new in life throughout those changes without realising it until now…….
No matter what, the Art of living with family and to live a balanced life in Hong Kong remain the most challenging aspect to me in 2011….
As I have read my devotion today (31st Dec 2010), I felt that the Lord’s word speaks to me and to show me some insights for 2011 …
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And overall these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. … And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossian 3: 12-14, 17.
Yes! I think this is my New Year’s Resolution!
Wishing you a Blessed, healthy & Prosperous 2011!
Keep in touch!
Blessings,
Agnes from HK
