Be a baby in Jesus—knows the Lord and is full of power (Psalm 8/Rev.10:8)

Rev. 10:8, “Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me once more: ‘Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.’”

The voice from heaven is the voice from the most holy truth. That is the Old Testament and New Testament. This heavenly voice is from the only True God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Only those who are as humble and thirsty as a baby can know the Name of the Lord. Only they can fully understand God’s words. Jesus said: “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.” (Luke 10/21, NIV) The Bible also says: “For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe…But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.” (1 Corinthians 1/21, 27-29)

Therefore, we must make every effort to know the Lord. Follow the example of Zacchaeus. How humble and thirsty he was. He knew how sinful he was. He also knew that he was shorter than others. So he ran ahead quickly and climbed a tree with his hands and feet. He climbed up to a sycamore-fig tree. He knew Jesus was coming through that sycamore-fig tree. Jesus knew how thirsty he was. Jesus was sure to stay with him.

Do you really want to have the true and lasting blessing? Come to Jesus, to know him and to love him. Seek the Lord in his own words–the Holy Bible. Let us humble ourselves before his words. And thirst for God’s words like a baby craves its mother’s milk. Eat God’s words like a silkworm eating leaves of a sycamore tree so that it grows up day and night.

Psalm 8 praises how wonderful the name of the Only Almighty God is in all the earth. The name of the Lord is “the Word of God”. (Rev. 19/13) Whoever is willing to keep God’s words by the blood of the Lamb and the Holy Spirit, he is sure to see God’s glory. The disciples followed Jesus so that they saw miracles and signs everyday. But those who sin or do evil things will not see God’s glory. The Pharisees and teachers of the law always asked Jesus to show them miracles and signs. But there was nothing for them because they were hypocrite. They were thirsty for honor before men, not God himself.

Why does God give power to the lips of children and infants? Here children and infants mean a type of Christian. Christians who are humble and obedient to God’s words just like little children. They crave God’s words like babies carving mothers’ milk. Daniel and his three friends are typically obedient to God’s words like babies. In spite of the threat of the lion’s den or the burning furnace, they obeyed God. Therefore, the mouths of the lion were sealed. And they came out of fire without any harm or smell of fire. The enemies had nothing to say.

Our mighty God has created heavens and earth and everything in it just for us. It is his good will to let us enjoy all of his wonderful creations. It only takes our part to be humble and obedient to his words. In addition to it, he wants to crown us with glory and honor. He hopes we will become the noble prince, full of honor and glory. He also is willing to give us authority to rule over all creatures. He wants us to be the chief General of the Army, the Air force and the Marine. God puts everything under the feet of those who love him and humbly obey him like babies. Were not the lions put under the feet of Daniel? Didn’t the ravens bring bread and meat to feed Elijah everyday? Didn’t a fish bring a coin in its mouth for the temple-tax of Jesus and Peter?

Let all of us change. Pray to God to make us humble and thirsty for the Holy Bible. Change us to love to put his words into practice. Make us like babies carving pure spiritual milk. So that we will know his name and will be full of power. In this way we will do his works successfully!

Now I will share with you a short parable told by Dr. John Sung. It is a story about old Aunt Five. Aunt Five was a Buddhist nun. Once there was a blind man came to the small village where she lived to preach Gospel. He had a stringed instrument in his hand. He played the music and singed, “It is very true that Jesus loves me”.

Aunt Five was the most stupid one among all of the nuns. She did not know how to read or write. She had no idea about how to count so that she did not know how to buy food. But she was the most faithful and honest one. When she heard about a blind man preaching Gospel, she went to listen. Other nuns thought she was very stupid, so they just let her go. After she heard the Gospel, she asked the blind man how to believe in Jesus. He told her: “Confess your own sins; and believe that the Lord has died for you. You will be saved!” She then asked: “What should I do after I am saved?” He said: “Seek God for guidance in all things you do. If you seek for God’s instruction in all things, you will see that he not only helps you to do things you can do. But also he will help you with things you cannot do. For God is a living God.” She then believed and accepted Jesus. And she went back.

That night she had a dream. A person wearing white clothes showed her to walk in the bright way. She asked him: “Who are you?” He answered: “I am Jesus whom the blind man talked about.” After she woke up, she was full of joy. Everyday she knelt on her knees before her bed and prayed. She asked God to guide her to walk in the bright way. When the nuns saw her believed in Jesus, they drove her out of the temple.

She went to the town to see the blind man, and told him what had happened to her. The blind man was very kind. He gave her one dollar and told her to start a little business with it. He told her to buy a basket which cost 50 cents; and then use the other 50 cents to buy some yu-tiao for selling (a kind of fried dough that Chinese usually eat it for breakfast). She asked him: “How do I sell it?” He told her: “You say like this, ‘I believe in Jesus. I am selling yu-tiao. The price is up to you. I spend one cent for each of it.” From that day on she started to sell yu-tiao everyday. Some who loved the Lord always bought yu-tiao from her so that she could earn enough to support herself.

On Sundays, there were sisters in Jesus taking her to church for worship. When she heard everyone singing hymns, she also joined them. But her hymn book was up-side-down. Many stood and prayed; she was on her knees. Her two hands were always trembling with fear, and she simply prayed repeatedly like this: “O Jesus, you guide me to walk in the bright way.” Everyday she went to the blind man. He taught her one verse from the Scripture everyday. She memorized those scriptures when she sold yu-tiao. Later on she went to everywhere to testify for Jesus. Since she did not know many things, she simply said: “Jesus says…” She continued to memorize one verse a day. For three years she had memorized more than one thousand verses. Three years later, God gave her the spiritual gift of healing. She simply prayed on the sick like this: “O Jesus, you have guided me to walk in the bright way. I beg you to lead this person to walk in the bright way too.” As soon as she prayed, the sick would be healed.

People at her church used to look down on her. But sine they knew she had the gift of healing, they all went to her for their own sickness. After she prayed for them, they were all healed. Gradually, God used her to pray for non-believers when they were sick. They were also healed. Therefore, two to three hundreds of non-believers were turned to believe in Jesus. She usually witnessed to the sick when they were suffering from illness. Then she asked the whole family of the sick to remove the idols. Many sick were healed in this way.

When she was old, she was able to see thousands of people come to the Lord because she witnessed to them. All the time she stayed in a little hut. She earned her living by selling yu-tiao. She did not save any money for herself. When she was passing away, she only asked people from the church to come and to sing hymn and pray. (At that time she had been lying on her sick bed for a month.) Before she breathed the last, she just said: “Thank you Lord. Your Word is revealed to babies.” She laughed joyfully when she died. She died at the age of 72. People carved her last words on her tombstone.
